About The Series: By Our Hands
From January to July, the Greater Washington Urban League's Entrepreneurship Center is hosting By Our Hands. This monthly training series is designed for food and beverage entrepreneurs to learn step-by-step how to launch, scale, and sustain long-term growth for their businesses.
Join us each month for an expert-led workshop, accompanied by two empowerment lab sessions. We recommend you attend all dates to maximize your experience and gain the full value.
This series will be held both in person and virtually. We encourage you to join us in person as we'll be offering free parking and food by a local Black-owned food service business!
About The $10,000 Black Restaurant Accelerator Program Grant
Every year, we award our clients with a $10,000 grant to help them elevate their businesses, whether that's through staffing, marketing, or other operational needs. Over the past three years, we have awarded sixteen businesses in total. In August 2023, we honored each grantee during our culminating ceremony.

Meet Your Coach: Furard Tate
Furard Tate is the Associate Director of the By Our Hands program at the . Tate is also the co-founder of DMV Black Restaurant Week and a chef who ran a successful restaurant and catering business in Washington, DC for 20 years.
