The great reformer Martin Luther called Paul’s letter to the Romans…“The chief part of the New Testament and the very purest Gospel. It is worthy not only that every Christian should know it word for word, by heart, but occupy himself with it every day, as the daily bread of the soul. It can never be read or pondered too much, and that most it is dealt with the more precious it becomes, and the better it tastes.”
Luther went on to say, “In this (letter) we find the most richly things that a Christian ought to know; namely, what is law, Gospel, sin, punishment, grace, faith, righteousness, Christ, God, good works, love, hope, the cross, and how we are to conduct ourselves toward everyone, whether righteous or sinner, strong or weak, friend or foe.”
This fall at Risen Hope Baptist Church we will begin another epic journey through what is arguably the greatest letter ever written — Paul’s letter to the Romans! Our aim in taking up this massive tome is certainly to grow in our knowledge and understanding of the Bible. But Romans will take us to amazing and humbling places. Paul will bring us low and then take us to new heights. Romans will show us the darks depths of who we really are. Romans will show us the immeasurable greatness of Jesus and deepen our love for him. Romans will display for us the infinite greatness and supremacy of God. Romans will light a fire in our souls for true worship. Romans will show us how to obey God from the heart. Romans will strengthen our resolve to keep going even when faced with suffering. Romans will help us relate better to those around us.
In short, Romans will change our lives! If that gets you excited, then make plans to join us on Sundays at 9:00 AM for worship at Risen Hope as we journey through this amazing book of the Bible. And don’t come alone! Bring your family, your friends, your neighbors, and your co-workers. Risen Hope welcomes all! We’d love for you to join us.
