All of Honeybee Centre's workshops begin with a short educational presentation about honeybees and beekeeping.
Next, youth will get hands-on making their own custom lip balm using natural beeswax from our hives! This workshop blends science, creativity, and self-care, allowing participants to learn about the benefits of beeswax while crafting their own personalized lip balms.
Workshop Flow:
1️⃣ Welcome & Intro (10 min)
- Brief intro to beeswax and its benefits in skincare
- Fun fact: How bees make wax & why it's so special
2️⃣ Lip Balm Science (15 min)
- The role of beeswax, oils, and butters in lip balm
- How to mix ingredients for the perfect texture
3️⃣ Mix & Melt (25 min)
- Hands-on melting of beeswax, 'butters', and oils
- Choosing scents (essential oils: vanilla, peppermint, etc.)
4️⃣ Pour & Set (15 min)
- Pouring into lip balm tubes/tins
- Creative label decorating
5️⃣ Wrap-Up & Take Home (10 min)
- Q&A
- Teens take home 4 lip balms each
