Buxton Hill Walks
Come join us for a scenic stroll through the beautiful moorlands and woodlands of Buxton, starting and ending at The Zink Project. Enjoy the fresh air, stunning views, and good company as we explore the local history, nature and trails together.
This is one of our longer walks, totalling7.5 miles. We head to Burbage then up and out onto the moors, descnding via the clough to the eastern edge of Errwood reservoir. From here we ascend to Wild Moor, following the brook up to the old railway and Beet Wood. We then head back to Zink via Bishops Lane.
Itinery:
- Meet at 945am at The Zink Project, aiming to set off at 10am. On street parking is available.
- Finish approx 1430pm at The Zink Project, where drinks and cakes are available.
Details:
- This route will follow paths through woodland, moorland and farmland. There are steep ascents and descents, on rough ground. Narrow paths, boggy sections and lots of bracken!
- Distance: approx 7.5miles/12km.
- Elevation: approx 1250ft/380m.
- Level of difficulty: Moderate
- Terrain: paths, some bumpy and rocky which can be slippery when wet, with exposed roots in wooded areas. Steep climbs at points.
- Safety: this walks is led by a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader.
- PLEASE NOTE: this walk passes through areas of dense bracken. Ticks are present and care should be taken. This could include wearing long trousers and long sleeves.
- A toilet is available at The Zink Project.
- Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a short lead at all times.

- Snacks/any food you may need for the duration of the walk
- Water
- Waterproofs and warm layers
- Small first aid kit with any personal Medic*tion if required.
