Join Nature Reserves Officer Ronald Surgenor for a guided summer walk at Slievenacloy Nature Reserve [https://www.ulsterwildlife.org/nature-reserves/slievenacloy-nature-reserve], a hidden gem in the Belfast Hills and one of Northern Ireland’s finest species-rich grassland sites. Explore sweeping meadows filled with wildflowers and orchids, and discover the incredible wildlife that thrives in this special landscape.
As you wander through the reserve, listen for the song of skylark and cuckoo, look out for butterflies and moths, and keep an eye out for priority species such as frog orchid and small heath butterfly. Learn how traditional grazing and careful habitat management help protect this rare grassland and support nature’s recovery.
