About this Event
What you will learn:
We’ll focus on the buttercream part of decorating a cake. Starting with what types of buttercream are available to us, how to get the right consistency for piping, how to use a pastry bag, how to incorporate food coloring into your buttercream and the (optional) use of decorative flowers in your creation.
By the end you will leave with your own self-decorated cake, a printed handout with simple piping techniques, a buttercream recipe and brand new hands-on experience to expand on at home!
Who can attend:
This workshop is recommended for adults or teens with little to no cake decorating experience.Anyone who’s interested in baking but hasn’t expanded further than cakes with a simple glaze or frosting. You’re welcome if you’re inexperienced and curious, if you don’t even know if you like baking but you like eating cake, if you want to explore sculpture in edible form. Join me!
If you’re a slightly more experienced baker but you’re piping-curious you’re also welcome, of course!
Who is teaching it:
My name is Fiamma Aleotti. I’ve been working as a baker and pastry chef for almost 10 years. I studied pastry in Italy at ALMA, the International School of Italian Cuisine. I started my own home bakery, Pastel, in 2016 when I lived in Costa Rica and I taught a few different workshops on topics ranging from pie and tart making, to chocolate and jams. That first iteration of Pastel closed in 2018 when I decided to move to Berlin and start a new chapter.
In 2024 I resuscitated my brand and started making cakes on demand. Now I’m ready to share my knowledge with you! The workshop will be taught in English.
