About this Event
Welcome to the June session of Chambers Wales SESWM Business Connect Breakfast: Apprenticeships in Practice.
Want to understand how an apprenticeship could benefit your business?
Looking for practical ways to attract and develop the right talent?
Join us for a focused and practical networking breakfast bringing together businesses from across the Welsh business community.
Apprenticeships are one of the most effective ways to build a skilled and loyal workforce. They allow businesses to develop talent aligned to their needs, improve retention and drive productivity.
In Wales and across the UK:
• Around 70% of apprentices remain with their employer after completing their programme (UK Government Apprenticeship Evaluation, Department for Education)
• Employers report productivity gains of up to £214 per week per apprentice (Department for Education, Apprenticeships Evaluation)
This makes apprenticeships a commercially sound investment, not just a pipeline for talent but a driver of performance and growth.
This session will explore how apprenticeships can benefit your business in real terms, including:
• Accessing and developing future talent
• Addressing skills gaps and workforce challenges
• Improving retention and long term capability
• Creating structured progression pathways within your organisation
We are delighted to be partnering with Cardiff and Vale College, one of Wales’ leading further education providers. Their team will share how businesses can effectively engage with apprenticeship programmes, from accessing the right candidates to shaping training around your organisation’s needs and building long term talent pipelines.
You will also hear directly from employers whose businesses are already benefiting from apprenticeships, sharing honest insight into what has worked, the challenges they have navigated and the impact on their organisation. Alongside this, apprentices themselves will speak about their experience, offering a valuable perspective on what attracts talent, what support matters and how businesses can get the most from these programmes.
The breakfast also provides dedicated time to network with fellow businesses, share experiences and build valuable connections across the Chamber network.
This event is ideal for business owners, senior leaders and HR or training professionals looking to strengthen their workforce, plan for future skills needs and take a more strategic approach to talent development. For booking queries, contact [email protected]
