About this Event
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of Australia have been masterful custodians of the land and the waters of this continent. They have a rich and powerful history of surviving and thriving through their deep knowledge of their environment, and the animals and plants living there.
The City Botanic Gardens sits on the peninsula of the Brisbane River known as Meanjin. Prior to western colonization, the Turrbal and Yuggera peoples used this area to hunt, farm and meet. There are many plants in this garden which were used by the local indigenous people either for food or for other cultural uses. Let's explore some of those plants on this walk.
