BURS

Burs (the small things that stick with you) is a Toronto-based folk-rock quartet consisting of Lauren Dillen, Ray Goudy, Devon Savas, and Aidan McConnell. Their debut album Holding Patterns, blends deep folk roots and left-field sonic tendencies, earning praise as "a rich and often ethereal collection of songs able to change with fluid ease" [The Revue]. The single “Lily” was featured on Spotify’s Fresh Finds Rock playlist.
The band has shared stages with established acts such as The Bros. Landreth, Jake Xerxes Fussell, By Divine Right, Field Guide, Hayden Pedigo, Another Michael, Living Hour, and Rachel Bobbitt. Notable festival highlights include Exclaim!’s Class of 2024, Winterruption WPG/YEG (2024), Sled Island (2023), and Highlands Music Festival (2023/24). Their sophomore record, Significance, Otherness, made with production help from Eli Browning (Sister Ray) and Adam Brisbin (Buck Meek), will release on November 21st, 2025 on Birthday Cake Records.

EVAN REDSKY

On The Language of Fishermen (Victory Pool), punk-rocker / folk storyteller Evan Redsky embodies and relays an array of Indigenous stories and perspectives in order to better understand his own. This record sees Redsky reclaiming the music of his childhood—the country heroes playing on his grandma’s car radio, like Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, and Blue Rodeo—to tell vulnerable stories of longing and resilience.
Growing up in the First Nations Reserve of Mississaugi First Nation in Blind River, Ontario, Redksy often hitchhiked to Toronto as a teenager, immersing himself in the city’s burgeoning punk and hardcore music scene. At 19 years old, Redsky started performing with punk outfit Single Mothers, going on to perform with the Juno-nominated group everywhere from local clubs to the Pitchfork Music Festival. Redsky has since become a stalwart of the Toronto music scene: he’s a member of the “Turtle Island Hardcore” band Indian Giver; performs with folk-rock duo Altemeda and singer-songwriter Wyatt C. Lewis; and plays bass with country ensemble Nicolette and the Nobodies.
Redsky's new album draws upon the works of celebrated author Richard Wagamese. Redsky, like Wagamese, is Anishinabek, and the two share the experience of growing up on reserve, and navigating between cultural worlds. Wagamese’s stories and Redsky’s own reflections co-mingle across The Language of Fishermen (Victory Pool), as he recalls intergenerational trauma (his song “Cecelia Jeffrey” recalls the atrocities of the Cecelia Jeffrey residential school) and reflects on the process of mending this pain (“Am I Allowed to Heal”). This album ultimately honours moments of simplicity and fulfillment; as Redsky explains, “The little moments we experience, and the land we come from, are rich with inspiration.”
