While art is the vehicle, community connection is the mission.

12:00 PM Meander two blocks to the Torpedo Factory Art Center, the nation’s largest collection of working-artists’ open studios under one roof. Artists actively create work in a wide variety of media in 71 artists’ studios. (105 N Union St Alexandria, VA 22314)
12:10 PM Join Veronica Barker-Bezel, Burner and resident artist, as she leads a tour of The Torpedo Factory. Participants can visit with other artists in residence and learn as Veronica demonstrates the use of silk screens to produce a print.
Veronica is a painter and a printmaker. Her style is often reflective of the places that she has experienced and stimulated by her personal background, and occasionally fused with her own version of urban surrealism.
Veronica explores worlds of playful adventure through her art. Her work is her search to express herself from within personal sanctuaries of carved lines in a relief block, the etched surface of a zinc plate, or the paint brushing across canvas. She wants to invoke thought, curiosity, and laughter. The pleasures of laughter and joy bring on a healing release that everyone needs.
