The Burlington Fire Department is pleased to announce our Spring Training Seminar, hosted by the Burlington Firefighters Rainy Day Fund, taking place on April 2 and April 3, 2026.
Wednesday, April 2 will feature Taps & Tactics with DC Troy Ruggles, an informal evening of fireground discussion. This session is designed to encourage open conversation and shared experiences in a relaxed setting.
Thursday, April 3 will be a full-day training conference featuring the following presentations:
Deputy Chief Steven Shaffer and Dan Madrzykowski will present on the Boston Back Bay Fire, with a focus on wind-driven fire behavior, operational challenges, and lessons learned that continue to shape modern fireground decision-making.
Lieutenant Steve Barton, Manchester (NH) Fire Department, will present The Realities of RIT, offering an honest and practical look at Rapid Intervention Team operations, expectations versus reality, and critical considerations for firefighter rescue.
