Återigen har det blivit dags att bjuda in en konstnär för att ställa ut på Bulb Club - denna gången Dehendrik Lechat Willekens med "Dealing With Nostalgia".
Dehendrik Lechat Willekens (*1985, Belgium, “Hendrik Willekens”in daily life) is an artist mainly working in the field of performance, dance and theatre. He lives in Malmö. His works as a music producer and as an artistic collaborator have been shown throughout Europe, most notably in Inkonst (Malmö),
Kunstenfestivaldesarts (Brussels), Museo Reina Sofia (Madrid), Moderna Museet (Stockholm), Short Theatre Festival (Rome), Palazzo Grassi (Venice), among others.
Dealing with nostalgia, at Bulb Club marks the first time he shows some of his visual works. Exciting times!!!Welcome to an exhibition of some of my pictures in Bulb Club’s
shop.

Om utställningen:
Dealing With Nostalgia
I was doubting to give this exhibition that name
So grand and full of purpose...
“Collages 2024 – 2026” would also have been accurate
Although there is no col (french for glue), instead there is thread
Nevertheless, there is some Nostalgia, and it is to be dealt with
That’s why I have been contrasting the fuzzy warmth of old postcards
With cut up trash that my domestic life produces in the Now;
Milk, apple juice packaging, chips bags, candy wrappers and so on
Let there be is no chance that people think that I think
That everything was better in an undetermined past
Ok. That’s one theme: bridging decades while dealing with nostalgia
Anchoring the collages in different eras
Another theme: the pleasure of creating,
Which sometimes was the pleasure of using a machine:
My sewing machine, first a Broken Singer, now a yellowing Bernina 830
Yet another theme (the original theme from 15 years ago when I
started making these):
The visual confusion / effect from a well-constructed “zebra collage”
Which relates to the theme: “oh, this composition would be cool to try”
More themes, ideas, inspirations:
The blue of the sky in 60’s, 70’s, 80’s postcards
Frames around frames around frames
Materiality of different kinds of papers, cardboard, plastic, thread
and aluminium
And so on...

I am curious what you think;
whether these pictures create stories, confuse your eyes (and in
what way), or “just” leave some kind of an impression or texture,
which might be soothing or concerning. I am curious what you think about ugly things and beauty things. I hope you are curious too.
