Eerie Excursions is teaming up with Wells & Co. Tattoo Shop, as they open the doors (by flashlight) to a building sitting on land steeped in some of Dayton’s darkest and most unsettling history. With demolition scheduled soon, this event represents a true last-chance opportunity to step inside a location that still shows clear signs of ongoing paranormal activity.
This is not quiet energy. It’s active. Intelligent. And unpredictable.
The History
This property is believed to sit on land once tied to the family of Dr. Oliver C. Haugh Dayton’s first suspected serial k*ller and a man suspected by many historians to be the infamous Dayton Str*ngler, who was never officially caught.
Haugh lived on this land with his parents and brother in a cabin believed to have stood where the current building now rests. A bigamist struggling with addiction, Haugh scammed women out of money until his parents finally cut him off and removed him from their will.
In a violent rage, Hoff unalived his mother, father, and brother, doused the cabin in kerosene, and set it on fire.
It’s believed the foundation of that original cabin remains beneath the current structure, with basement beams possibly serving as remnants, built over, repurposed, and reused… but never fully cleared.
Paranormal Activity
During our visit, one thing was immediately clear, spirits move through this building constantly. Some appear to pass through. Others seem to stay.
Reported and experienced activity includes:
- Objects flying off walls
- Doors opening and closing on their own
- Repeated instances of hair being pulled, experienced by both the shop owners and a stylist working in the back
- A steady, reactive energy tied closely to the land itself
- VERY clear communication from the spirits who are still here
This location doesn’t sit dormant. It responds.
