The Clarksville community is invited to attend "Built Not Born," a conversation with Drs. Kevin Harris and Emily Pica, APSU Department of Psychological Science and Counseling, on their 2024 book Overcoming Obstacles and Finding Success: The Power of Performance Psychology.This event will explore how success is developed—not inherited—drawing on more than two decades of research in performance psychology and real-world experience working with high-level performers.
The discussion will address common barriers to success such as impostor syndrome, artificial ceilings, rejection, and burnout, while highlighting evidence-based strategies related to deliberate practice, mindset, feedback, and recovery. The content is designed to be accessible and relevant across disciplines, with practical insights applicable to leadership, professional development, and student success.
Free and open to the public.
