About this Event
The Fam’Ly Experience is building Birmingham’s next cultural platform, live performance, DJ sets, immersive technology, and community storytelling. We need your ideas to help shape what it becomes.
This creative session is designed to unlock imagination, and stretch thinking.FEATURING DR MARTIN GLYNN
Dr Martin Glynn is a writer, criminologist, and the creator of mythic noir, a genre he invented himself, blending ritual, atmosphere, and social truth. His research has influenced policy and thinking around race, justice, and what communities need to flourish. As a Professor in Creative Pedagogy, he brings that same rigour to how creativity shapes identity and transforms spaces.
WHAT WE’LL BE EXPLORING
Sound systems. House parties. Blues dances. Block parties. Capoeira rodas. Black cultural spaces have existed in the shadow of crisis as grounding. Emotional regulation. Communal resilience. Identity formation. That history is the foundation. The Fam’Ly Experience is asking what that looks like when we build it with creative technology. How do we design narrative intentionally? How do we tell Birmingham’s Black music story - past, present, and future - in a way that makes young artists see themselves clearly and understand the weight of what they’re part of?This is cultural infrastructure. And we’re building it consciously, together.
