A conversation about access, opportunity and retention for women in construction - from entry routes to workplace reality.
About this Event

Join us for an industry-led evening celebrating the outcomes of the Girls in Construction programme, run and sponsored by Frank Rogers Building Contractors, in partnership with The Big Trust. The event is sponsored by Frank Rogers Building Contractors, with support from the Save Construction Initiative and The Big Trust.

Developed in response to ongoing skills shortages and underrepresentation across the built environment, the Girls in Construction programme was designed to challenge outdated perceptions of construction careers and broaden the talent pipeline entering the industry. Through structured school engagement, employer-led sessions, visible role models and real-world insight, the programme aimed to increase awareness of the breadth of roles available and build confidence among young women considering construction as a long-term career.

This event will present the programme findings, impact and key learnings, offering an honest assessment of what has worked, where challenges remain, and what industry can do differently to attract, support and retain women at all stages of their careers. Discussion will focus on practical actions rather than theory, with insights from those directly involved in delivering the programme and from industry professionals actively driving change within their organisations.

The evening will feature a programme findings presentation, an industry panel discussion and an open Q&A, providing space for robust conversation around workforce sustainability, inclusion, culture and retention. Dedicated networking time will allow attendees to connect with peers, share experience and explore opportunities for collaboration across projects, frameworks and initiatives.

Guests will be welcomed with a complimentary champagne reception on arrival, followed by canapรฉs served during the evening, creating a relaxed but purposeful setting for discussion and networking.

This event is aimed at contractors, consultants, developers, clients, supply chain partners and industry stakeholders with a genuine interest in building a more resilient, inclusive and future-ready construction sector.

Panel Speakers: Industry Voices Driving Change
The panel brings together a group of experienced professionals and advocates who are actively shaping the future of construction through leadership, lived experience and meaningful action.

Each panellist offers a unique perspective on inclusion, safety, wellbeing and progression within the built environment, from frontline trade experience to strategic programme delivery and industry-wide campaigning. Together, they represent a cross-section of voices committed to improving standards and creating safer, more inclusive working environments for women.

The panel will explore key themes including access to the industry, retention, on-site culture, wellbeing, and practical solutions that can be implemented by employers, educators and industry partners. Discussion will also cover the introduction of the new standard for women on site, with insight into how policy, design and accountability can drive real change.

This session is designed to be honest, practical and forward-looking, offering attendees valuable insight, shared learning and tangible takeaways that can be applied across projects, organisations and programmes.

Frank Rogers x The Big Trust: Pathway to Employment

In partnership with The Big Trust, Frank Rogers Building Contractors has developed a six-week pathway to employment programme delivered within all-girls schools across the Liverpool City Region.

The programme is designed to introduce students to careers within the built environment, provide practical insight into construction pathways, and build confidence through industry engagement, role models and employability-focused learning. It forms part of a wider commitment to breaking down barriers, improving access and creating clear, achievable routes into employment for young women interested in the sector.

This partnership reflects a shared ambition to deliver long-term, meaningful change by connecting education with real opportunities in industry.
