We hereby invite you and/or your organization to shape and participate in building bridges between different Danish Hip Hop & street dance communities. The format for this networking event is interactive and held in a format where we meet in an equal manner. The purpose is multifold where we seek to create more understanding of, and for, each other’s viewpoints, experiences, and actions. It’s about listening to each other and recognizing what common ground we share and seeing beyond the differences and separation.
We recognize the strength of having diverse points of view that can drive growth and development in the community. We also recognize the need for the ability to listen and seek understanding of the different views of community work. In the Danish community there are pressing and urgent topics to address when discussing cultural and systemic challenges in the dance culture. We cannot cover them all, and it would be counter-productive to bring them to the table without first trying to build a common ground and foundation, where we can learn to listen to one another.
The purpose of this event is to listen, to understand, to find common ground and to build bridges. We invite you to do the same. Together we will narrow down on the topics that bridge us together.
Practical information: The event will be held on the 11th & 12th of December at Union Culture house Copenhagen.
Dec. 11th 14:00-16:00: A general workshop will be held at the beginning of the event where participants will work on how to listen and how to seek understanding. Here we learn to work with building bridges. Jesper Lemke will facilitate the workshop and give the participants concrete tools and exercises to work with.
Jesper Lemke has an educational background in intercultural conflict management and anthropology. Jesper Lemke has extensive experience with cultural consultancy, and his key personal characteristics include empathy, respect, and a creative and straightforward approach to problem solving.
Dec. 12th 14:00-18:00: Different dance unions, organizations, and actors are invited to address and speak about topics that fall inside the general framework and purpose. We will finish the day with an open dance jam.
