About this Event

Join Illinois Tech as we launch the publication of Building, Breaking, Rebuilding. The IIT Campus and Chicago’s South Side (Minneapolis: University of Minnesota Press; 2024) on April 25 at 6pm. The book's editor, Michelangelo Sabatino, will present:

Mindy Pugh (Illinois Tech), "The Beginnings of the Armour Institute Campus"

Lionel Kimble (Chicago State University), "A Plan in Defense of Culture", Race, Space, and Cultural Activism 1930s-1950s.

Amy M. Mooney (Columbia College Chicago), "A Bronzeville Muse: Archibald Motley's Portrait of Edna Powell Gayle"

This event will take place Schulz Auditorium of Michael Paul Galvin Tower, 10 W. 35th Street. Parking is free and across the street in the vistors lot on State Street between 35th and 34th Streets. A light reception at 5pm precedes the speakers and discussion 6pm. Immediately after the program, you may take a guided tour of campus and stay for at 8pm.
