About this Event
Building a Mutable Net is a workshop series by Luca Marini exploring mesh networks, technocommunitarian practices, and shared knowledge.
In this first session, Hacking Devices, we focus on the software layer of network infrastructures. Participants will open up routing devices and reprogram them using free and open-source tools such as OpenWrt and LibreMesh.
This hands-on lab introduces the basics of how network devices operate, and how their internal logic can be modified to enable decentralized communication. By hacking these devices, we begin to understand infrastructure not as a fixed system, but as something that can be reshaped and collectively redefined.
The workshop is part of a broader investigation into wireless community networks as alternatives to centralized and privatized infrastructures, where connectivity becomes a shared resource rather than a controlled service.
No previous technical experience is required.
