About this Event
Managing, leading and supporting a team of people – whatever the numbers involved - can be tricky, and will often leave you feeling that it requires more time than you have. But making time for your people in a structured way can also save you time.
This introductory session offers an approach to line management and/or supervision that is both person-centred and meets organisational reporting lines.
Firstly, we will define the term supervision (line management) and its 5 key purposes; then we will examine the Kadushin & Proctor supervision model. After that, we will consider the basics of setting up or refreshing supervision in practice, as a key element of getting the best from your people and contributing to success in what you do. Within that, we will look at setting agendas, contracting and recording.
By the end of the workshop, you will:
- be introduced to an effective model and a suite of ‘paperwork’ that you can adapt for your setting /organisation/ community group.
- feel more confident about what you can expect to receive in supervision/line management, as well as how you can offer it as a supervisors.
This is an in-person workshop at The Wolseley Trust.
This workshop will be delivered by Susan Moores. Susan has developed and delivered training on this topic since 1994, travelling all over the country in many settings – where the share experience of all will be wanting to deliver quality service/support in people centred work, whether that be health and social care, substance use/misuse, youth work, Befriending projects or environmental activities. Susan has been a supervisor in a variety of statutory and voluntary sector contexts providing line management, external and student supervision in youth and community work, domestic violence, probation, early intervention and development roles.
