About this Event
In Part 2 of the Build Your Own Top Workshop, we focus on turning your drafted pattern into a sewn garment. You’ll learn practical techniques for fabric preparation, pattern placement, cutting, and assembling, so you can confidently bring your designs to life.
This session is designed to complement Part 1 (pattern drafting). If you haven’t attended Part 1, you’ll still benefit, but the full experience comes from creating your own pattern first.
What you’ll learn:
- How to prepare fabric for cutting and sewing
- Proper pattern placement techniques for accurate fit
- Cutting techniques for clean and precise pattern pieces
- Basic assembling rules for constructing your top
- Tips for handling different fabric types
What you’ll leave with:
- Completed pattern pieces ready to sew
- Confidence in using your custom pattern
- Skills to replicate these techniques for future garments

- Time: 1:30–4:00 PM
- Workshop fee: $85
This workshop includes all guidance and techniques — no additional materials fee is required, but please bring your pattern from Part 1 if you made one.
Who this workshop is for:
• No prior pattern making or pattern cutting experience is required
• For the sewing part, participants should be familiar with using a sewing machine
• Perfect for Sewing 101 graduates
• Students who completed Part 1 and want to bring their pattern to life
• Sewists who want to learn proper cutting and assembling methods
* No refund is given for any missed classes in the course. It is your responsibility to come to each class. If a class needs to be missed you can communicate with your teacher to help catch you up on the project from home before our next class.

Hi there! I’m Julia Medeiros, a seasoned professional in the world of apparel.
With over 20 years of experience under my belt (yes, I started early!) I've honed my skills as a tailor, pattern maker, and sewing technologist. Specializing in women’s clothing, and utilizing my One Fitting method, I’ve brought countless unique garments to life, turning my clients’ visions into reality. I have deep experience with teaching sewing classes around the world I am excited to bring my expertise to The Nest.
