This ride will allow the participants to spend a lot of time driving on curvy, up/down roads where the max speed will be 40 mph. We are doing the drive on a week-day, which favors retired folks. All those from Kentucky should drive over the Sherman Minton (the I-64 West, the ‘free’ bridge). Also, there are a limited number of eateries on the square in Corydon. Outlined below is the general route of travel:
1. Departure from Wild Eggs restaurant New Albany IN 47150 at 10:30 AM
2. Travel south on HWY 111 past the casino to all the way to New Boston, known for DAM 43. This will seem as if this road is taking you to the end of civilization and almost to the end of the earth! (The road is posted a 55 mph). The trip from there will be a unique experience, we promise. First, we must turn right, or we will take a dip in the Ohio River.
3. We will then travel from DAM 43 to Laconia, IN, on well-paved roads that are amazing (max speed 40mph). There are enough stops on the way to Laconia and literally no traffic, so the group will not get separated. If you are really interested, call up "Google Maps Indiana" and you pick out the route.
4. From Laconia, we will go north to Cordon on HWY 337. Though a major road, it has another seemingly thousand turns on the way to the Square at the Old State House in downtown Corydon.
Corydon ends the official drive. On the square, there are four restaurants from which you may choose to eat: basic lunch menus, one bagel shop and one coffee/bakery shop. We thought the drivers and their guests could eat wherever they choose; however, if we all go to one place, it would most likely be a Mexican restaurant, which can handle our larger group. In addition, there are many nationally known places up near Walmart. Once I hear from interested drivers. I will list out places we might have lunch.
After lunch, there are shops on the square or a return home through Lanesville on HWY 62. This will return you to New Albany. Louisvillians should beat rush hour easily.
Please let me know if you are interested and what dates by Friday, March 27. You can ‘REPLY’ to me only via email or telephone.
