About this Event
This brush calligraphy workshop with Surbhi Aggarwal is thoughtfully crafted for beginners, guiding participants from the fundamentals and progressing at a comfortable pace tailored to each individual's needs. We begin by covering essential techniques such as proper pen grip, posture, and warm-up exercises to ensure a strong foundation.
Participants will receive a comprehensive workbook, brush pens, a handmade name card, and watercolor sheets for the final project. The workbook includes everything from basic strokes to lowercase and uppercase letters, numbers, and words, with plenty of space to practice both during and after the workshop.
The session not only introduces participants to the art of brush calligraphy but also encourages them to develop their own unique style over time. We’ll explore techniques like 3D lettering to give depth to your designs, and faux calligraphy, which allows you to create calligraphy on any surface with any tool, expanding beyond the brush pen and paper.
In the final segment, we discuss different types of brush pens and how to continue practicing and experimenting after the class, fostering a long-term journey in brush lettering.

Meet Surbhi, a skilled calligrapher with over five years of experience mastering a wide range of scripts, including Modern calligraphy, Copperplate, Spencerian, and Italic. While she’s proficient in various styles, she has a special relationship with brush calligraphy due to its versatility and the joy it brings her in teaching.
In addition to her work on paper, she extends her craft to customizing items like engraving perfume bottles and personalizing wine or champagne flutes, making each piece uniquely special. With a deep passion for teaching, she has guided over a thousand students in discovering the therapeutic and creative joys of calligraphy, with brush calligraphy being a particular favorite to share.
