BIRMINGHAM are desperate to end a losing streak of five matches in all competitions when they host Oxford at Perry Barr on Monday (July 8, 7.30pm).
Since claiming maximum points against league leaders Ipswich at the end of May, it’s been a disappointing run of form for the Curtis Sport Brummies.
Performances on the road have left a lot to be desired but their last two home fixtures have gone down to a last heat decider - and they’ll be hoping they can turn their fortunes around in front of the Perry Barr faithful ahead of the break for the Speedway of Nations.
Birmingham are set to be boosted by the return of No.1 Freddie Lindgren who missed Thursday’s joint heaviest defeat of the season at King’s Lynn after crashing whilst celebrating his Gorzow Grand Prix success the previous weekend.
And with skipper Steve Worrall ruled out through illness, the Brummies have booked American international Luke Becker who will be keen to do an additional favour for his regular ROWE Motor Oil Premiership club Leicester who are chasing down Oxford who currently sit in fourth in the standings.
The visitors are led by in-form Australian champion Rohan Tungate and include Polish World Cup winner Maciej Janowski alongside former Brummies Chris Harris and Erik Riss.
Team Manager Sam Ermolenko admits things haven’t been good enough of late from his Birmingham side and knows how important two league points would be on Monday.
“I have been concerned about things,” Ermolenko said.
“We’ve had riders having good nights and bad nights and we now need one meeting where all the Birmingham riders have good nights; we need to make sure our riders are in harmony.
“We’re hoping for a good meeting on Monday, it’s our first of three straight home meetings for the team, and we want to turn things around.”
There is also second half action on Monday which sees the Supporters’ Club Buffaloes take on the Ductair Bulls.
Birmingham Speedway will also be holding their annual collection for the Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Fund and ask supporters to donate as much spare change as they can afford during the collections throughout the night.
Whilst tickets will be available on the gate, they are also available online for £23 adults, £20 concessions (with proof) and £10 students (with proof) - children under 16 are admitted free of charge!
Brand new racenight ‘VIP Gold Tickets’ are also available for £39 - this includes a raceday programme, a pre-meeting pits visit, a centre green experience as well as use of the executive boxes upstairs in the main grandstand.
All tickets can be purchased in advance by visiting: https://www.trybooking.com/uk/events/landing/63867?
Any supporters attending are also politely asked to note the racenight parking revisions. All season ticket holders are being asked to park in the main car park of the stadium where a dedicated parking area for season ticket holders and blue badge holders is being created close to the main entrance, which will leave only limited parking onsite for non-season ticket holders. However, the club will continue to do their best to provide car parking at the stadium for those with mobility issues, but are urging those fans to arrive by 7pm.
The club are asking for fans who aren't season ticket holders, to use the car parking in Holford Drive (in front of Prince Albert High School), postcode B42 2TU, which is less than 5 minutes walk to the stadium entrance.
The VIP car-park which has been accommodating some season ticket holders and blue badge holders, will be used for sponsors, staff and second half riders.
