Speaker: Barth RobbinsBarth Robbins will present the fascinating story of the Midland Discovery Site, a nationally significant archaeological site where human remains originally known as “Midland Man” were uncovered in 1953. Further examination revealed that “Midland Man” was actually a woman that was approximately 30 years old. Believed to date back at least 10,000 years, the discovery offers valuable insight into Paleo-Indian life on the Llano Estacado and early human migration in North America. As an active member of local archaeological societies, the Texas Archeological Society, and a steward with the Texas Historical Commission, Barth Robbins will share his passion for the Paleo-Indian period and the enduring importance of the Midland Discovery Site.
