About this Event
Join us for a joyful, family-centered storytime experience as Brown Babies n’ Books travels to Oswego, NY for a special community gathering rooted in literacy, culture, and connection ✨
Hosted at The River’s End Bookstore, this event brings together families for an engaging morning of storytelling, creativity, and shared experiences that celebrate representation and the power of books.
We’re honored to feature two incredible voices in children’s literature:
Melquea Smith (she/her), a multi-award-winning children’s book illustrator, will read The Biggest Gift of All—a heartfelt story centered on love and connection.
Marsita Jordan, a publisher, author, poet, and educator, will read Mama’s Best Wig—a joyful and affirming celebration of identity and self-expression.
Beyond storytime, families can enjoy a unique Bubble Brigade Trolley Ride and Historical Tour, led by local historian Mary Kay Stone, offering a fun and educational way to explore the city together.
For those looking to extend the experience, our Family Fun Day option includes a parent social at Press Box, creating space for connection and community while the children continue to play and engage.
We’ll also have complimentary bagels from The Oswego Bagel Shop and coffee from Khepera Coffee to start the morning off right ☕🥯
