About this Event
Broad Ripple has long been one of Indianapolis’s most creative neighborhoods — a place where art, music, and culture are part of everyday life. Now, we’re inviting the community to help shape what comes next!
The Broad Ripple Village Association, in partnership with the Indy Arts Council, is launching a year-long community process to create a public art master plan for Broad Ripple. This plan will guide new public art in Broad Ripple over the next three to five years, helping ensure that future projects reflect the creativity, character, and energy that make this neighborhood unique.
We’re kicking off the Public Art Master Plan with an in-person community meeting on Tuesday, May 5. Join us at the Indianapolis Art Center from 6 - 7:30 PM (doors open at 5:30 PM) to learn about the planning process and share your input on future public art in Broad Ripple.
What to Expect:
- We’ll dive into the purpose of a public art master plan and give an overview of the many ways the community can engage with the project.
- Attendees will engage in creative activities and participate in facilitated breakout group discussions. Topics will include how public art can reflect Broad Ripple’s identity, what themes, styles, or stories should be represented in future art, what community engagement around future artwork looks like, and how public art can be supported and sustained over time.
- We’ll review what we learned together and share opportunities to stay involved.
Know Before You Go:
RSVP is encouraged, but not required. Bring a neighbor!
There is another large event happening at the same time at the Indianapolis Art Center. To find us, use the Western entrance (left-most door when facing the front of the building, leading to the library), instead of the main entrance. We’ll have signs outside to help guide you!
Due to anticipated high parking lot usage for the other event, we recommend walking, biking, or taking the bus to the meeting. Bike parking is located at the main entrance and the Art Center is a two-block walk from the 66th St. stop on IndyGo Route 90 (Red Line Rapid Transit).
Can't make it to the meeting on May 5? No worries!
- You can still participate via the online questionnaire, launching May 8 on the project website: www.broadrippleindy.org/artplan. Some of the questions will be similar to the breakout activities in the public meeting, and there will be additional opportunities to share your opinions in more detail.
- Mark your calendar for the second Community Meeting on July 7. We will provide a recap of the first meeting and move ahead with additional follow-up activities.
- We will be tabling at various community activities in May and June: stop and talk to us there!
