Bristol “Whirling Drum Meditation” Trial Workshop
Workshop B (in English 英語)

Time: 10:00 - 12:00
Location: Chew Stoke Church Hall, Chew Stoke, Bristol, BS40 8TU
What is Whirling Drum Meditation?
Whirling Drum Meditation is a dynamic form of meditation that calms the restless mind through intense focus and bodily control.
The concept is inspired by Sufi whirling meditation. Participants use a simple, fixed beat and repetitive, cyclical movements: revolving around the drum (orbital motion) and self-spinning (rotational motion), striking the drum as they go, mimicking the relationship between the Earth and the Sun. The process is accompanied by rhythmically structured music that sets the tempo and mood.
The Whirling Drum Meditation lasts approximately 30 minutes without interruption, followed by 15 to 30 minutes of silence.
True meditation allows everything to be as it is—without direction, goals, or methods. However, whirling drum meditation introduces a conscious focus—with direction, goals, and methods—creating a paradox.
