Coggeshall Farm Museum and the Boston Garrison Living History Organization are excited to present the “British School of Light Infantry” as a part of Coggeshall’s 250th celebrations this year. This program will represent how soldiers in the British Army learned the famed “Howe’s light infantry drill”, a light infantry discipline established by Major General William Howe. In 1776, when the British were preparing to invade New York, General Howe ordered all the troops within the army to learn proper tactics in order to better engage in combat during the Revolution.
Guests can interact with costumed historians throughout the day and learn about the role of non-combatants who followed the British Army on their campaign during the Revolutionary War. Visitors will have the opportunity to see musket demonstrations, watch drills, and learn about fatigue duty as they explore the historic Farm.
