About this Event

About the Class

This is life drawing with a difference! Shibari is the Japanese art of intricate rope bondage, and our experienced performers Burgundy Rose and Spring Tide will demonstrate this beautiful practice to music, whilst holding poses of 5-15 minutes to draw from. Beth, an artist and life drawing tutor, will introduce and guide you through the class and poses, but the class is not "tutored" in the traditional sense. This class is about your experience with the model and poses and how you perceive them, through the action of drawing.

- This class is 18+

- Paper and some basic materials will be provided at no extra charge, but please feel free to bring any sketchbooks, surfaces or materials that you wish.

- The class starts promptly at 6:30pm - please make sure you're there 5 mins before we start! The class is 90 minutes long, with a short break in the middle.

- You are not required to wear a mask once seated at this event, unless you want to. Please bring a mask for the bathrooms and hallways, although this isn't compulsory.

- All abilities are more than welcome

- There will be music and complimentary boozy bubbles at this event - is it Christmas, after all!

Accessibility: If you require a wheelchair accessible entrance, we have one but I may need to see if it useable, so please email ahead. The event space for this class is quite dark so please be aware of this.

About Burgundy Rose

Burgundy Rose and Spring Tide started tying together in 2016 and they have been partners in rope, and in life, ever since.

Burgundy Rose has a background in the performing arts, and this influences her approach to ropes and style. Dynamic, playful and attentive, she is endlessly curious about people and thrives on the intensities, physical and psychological, that rope can bring out. Spring Tide generally prefers to be tied and this tends to be either passive and enduring suffering or active, dynamic and co-creative.

The pair have learnt from a wide range of national and international educators, and are currently most inspired by blending the intensity and aesthetics of ‘traditional’ Japanese Shibari with a more movement-based and deconstructed ‘contemporary’ style.

They have both modelled frequently for ‘Drawn to Rope’ at Anatomie Studio in London and enjoy creating fun, creative life drawing sessions for artists to draw and be inspired.
