At WoRD, we go beyond just woodworking...
What Your Workshop Ticket Funds:
The Woodshop of Recycled Delights is a Community Interest Company, meaning that your ticket not only covers your experience at the workshop; it funds the ongoing work WoRD does for our community and environment.
Since 2022, we've rescued over 20,000 kgs of timber from landfill, saving around 35 tonnes of sequestered CO2 from entering our atmosphere! We've used this timber to create more than 150 new growing structures for London community green spaces, and delivered over 6000 hours of accessible learning through workshops and volunteer days to almost 2000 people.
Pay-It-Forward Tickets Mean Woodworking Can Be For Everyone:
We're committed to making sure that joyful and sustainable woodworking is accessible to everyone. We work with funders to offer subsidised and free workshops to community organisations that share our mission of empowering people to use what they have to build what they need - especially people who are traditionally less-represented in woodworking spaces.
We've been doing the same with our woodworking workshops for years - finding places for people to take part, no matter what they can afford. If you have the means, please help us to continue to offer these spaces by booking a Pay-It-Forward workshop ticket for your session. This covers your attendance and helps to fund someone else's place on a WoRD workshop.
Working with reclaimed timber not only reduces waste, but also creates great opportunities for artistic creation in garden and furniture design. You will be amazed at what’s possible - seating and social spaces, water-efficient planters, pergolas, and limitless other options!
We're passionate about supporting people to make whatever they want out of reclaimed material, and the possibilities are truly endless.
We take a co-learning approach, with experienced facilitators leading a space that welcomes people working together to share different approaches to making or fixing things using reclaimed materials.
