About this Event
Often our awareness of the body in meditation is a sort of "token representation" — a relatively shallow, sketchy sense of what's there. Because of this, the body is often not very interesting, and the sensations we encounter may be predominantly neutral or even unpleasant. It's no wonder we get distracted a lot!
We can learn, however, to relax into a more alive, energetic experience of the body, where there's more tingling, aliveness, and flowing energy. This, by contrast, is fascinating and deeply satisfying.
This energetic awareness of the body is important for if we want to bring about calm in the mind, because it helps keep our attention stable and focused.
In this half-day workshop we'll see how four qualities can help us bring the body's aliveness to the surface:
- Openness
- Kindness
- Curiosity
- Appreciation
In exploring these four qualities we'll see how we can have a deeper and more satisfying appreciation of the body, not just in meditation but in daily life as well, creating a deep sense of calm and joy.
The workshop is led by teacher and author Bodhipaksa, who has been practicing meditation for more than 40 years, and who is the founder of Wildmind (www.wildmind.org), which was the world's first online meditation center.
