Adopting a new dog? Whether adopting from a shelter, rescue, or foster, many dogs need time to decompress and adjust to a new home. Behavioral assessments (ex: good with other dogs, kids, etc.) provide a baseline, but don’t always translate immediately to a new home. Similarly, decompression rules found online rarely reflect the actual, individual needs of each adopted dog.
