Walk ends: Outside The Globe Theatre, 21 New Globe Walk, London SE1 9DT

With stop about halfway for lunch and refreshment at Borough Market where there is a also a lovely baby change at Southwark Cathedral. We take as much time as everyone needs to eat and change/feed baby.

Winner of 'Best Parent Activity' at the 'Bablands Awards', 'Bring Your Baby' Guided London Walks are sensitively devised to suit parents and carers of even the tiniest babies to enjoy London’s history. We can stop whenever you like to feed and change - without the stress of feeling you are holding up the group. Because every participant brings their baby, patience and baby’s needs are at the forefront of each walk.

You are welcome to bring friends and family who do not also have a baby.

'BOROUGH, SOUTHWARK & BANKSIDE: BARDS, BAWDS & TREADING THE BOARDS'

About this walk:

- Stand in numerous medieval courtyards and alleyways along Borough High Street immortalised by Chaucer (in 'The Canterbury Tales'), Shakespeare and Dickens; and home to a half timbered house from the 15th century and the last-remaining 17th century galleried inn in the area, The George Tavern.

- See the original wall of The Marshalsea Pr*son - one of many prisons in the area, and where Charles Dickens' whole family were imprisoned when he was a child.

- See the still-standing house that was the birthplace of the founder of Harvard University - and the house with links to a grisly M**der.

- Visit Crossbones Graveyard, the final resting place of 15,000 people - many of them prostitutes from once-nearby brothels and stews of Bankside.

- Wander through Borough Market - and see the locations used for the Knight Bus arrival at the The Leaky Cauldron - and the Third Hand Book Emporium - for the filming of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. You'll also see Millennium Bridge, which the dementors destroy in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

- Learn about Bankside's theatrical past - see the site of the original Globe playhouses, the Rose theatre and the infamous bear-baiting pit popular with Henry VIII and Elizabeth I.

- Learn about the history of some of Bankside's tourist favourites: Southwark Cathedral (resting place of Shakespeare's brother), The Golden Hinde and the sinister Clink Pr*son Museum.

- Discover the remains of Winchester Palace and its connection to the brothels and stews that sat alongside the playhouses and bear pits of Bankside.- Imagine the scene as you visit the tavern where Samuel Pepys once watched the Great Fire of London burn - and a favourite of Dr Samuel Johnson, writer of the dictionary.

- Discover the purpose of the antique Bankside curio, 'The Ferryman's Seat'.

- And more...

Every walk follows the usual health and safety guidelines, such as crossing at traffic lights where possible and having hazards pointed out to you at the start and along the route.

There may be times we have to stand in direct sunlight (although I will always choose shade where possible). Please bring all the necessary sun protection for yourself and your child.

It is recommended you bring appropriate drinks and snacks for the duration of the walk, especially if the walk takes place at lunchtime.

I will contact you with booking confirmation after you book. I will supply my mobile number in case of emergencies or in case you are running late. I will also ask you to provide me with a mobile number in case of lateness, walk postponement, cancellation or separation, but this is *not for marketing purposes*. Please note that if you are more than a few minutes late I may ask you to catch up with us.
