About this Event

This two day course is designed to equip support facilitators with the knowledge, tools, and strategies needed to effectively guide and advocate for diverse educators through the National Board Certification (NBC) process. By focusing on the principles of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access (DEIA), this module helps facilitators create a more equitable and supportive environment that recognizes and values the unique strengths and challenges of educators from various cultural, linguistic, and educational backgrounds. Through interactive activities, reflective practices, and collaborative discussions, participants will deepen their understanding of how to align their support with the goals of the National Board, ultimately enhancing the success and certification outcomes of diverse educators.

Module Objectives:

  1. Understand DEIA Principles: Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how the principles of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access apply to the National Board Certification process and the support of diverse educators.
  2. Identify and Address Biases: Participants will learn to recognize and address implicit biases that may impact their support of diverse educators, ensuring that all candidates receive fair and equitable guidance throughout the certification process.
  3. Develop Culturally Responsive Support Strategies: Participants will explore and develop strategies for providing culturally responsive support that meets the unique needs of educators from diverse backgrounds.
  4. Foster Reflective Practice: Participants will learn how to encourage and facilitate reflective practice among diverse educators, helping them to critically evaluate their teaching practices in alignment with National Board standards.
  5. Create an Inclusive Support Environment: Participants will identify ways to build an inclusive and supportive environment that values and leverages the diverse perspectives and experiences of all educators in the NBC process.

We will meet on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm and reconvene on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
