Discover powerful insights into how poverty impacts families, students, and communities—and learn practical tools to create real change.
About this Event

Bridges Out of Poverty Training is a professional development workshop designed to help individuals, organizations, and communities understand and address the challenges of poverty. Based on the work of Dr. Ruby K. Payne, Philip DeVol, and Terie Dreussi Smith, the training provides practical insights into the mindsets of economic classes and how those impact learning, work, and decision-making.

Participants learn to:

  • Recognize the hidden rules of economic class and how they shape opportunities and barriers.
  • Identify the resources individuals and families need to move out of poverty.
  • Develop strategies for building relationships of mutual respect across class lines.
  • Explore systemic changes that organizations and communities can make to reduce poverty and support long-term stability.

Who benefits: Educators, social service providers, community leaders, faith-based groups, healthcare workers, and employers who serve or work with individuals from under-resourced backgrounds.

Goal: To shift perspectives, increase understanding, and equip participants with tools to break the cycle of poverty at both individual and community levels.
