Join us in support for one of our dear friends, Brian Dodd.
Recently he has been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). ALS is a progressive and fatal neurodegenerative disease that causes muscles to deteriorate over time, eventually leading to severe mobility limitations and breathing difficulties. The average life expectancy after diagnosis is three to five years.
Brian worked as a cook at Apple Rehab in Uncasville, CT, where he was a well-loved member of the staff. Through his creativity and dedication, he provided delicious and nutritious meals to the residents every day. Brian will be greatly missed by the staff and residents alike. Unfortunately, because of his diagnosis, Brian is no longer able to work.
While he has applied for Social Security benefits and will be receiving state insurance for medical care, there will be a gap before those benefits begin.
To help Brian during this difficult transition, we will be hosting a fundraising event on April 12th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
The event will include a raffle and community gathering, and 100% of the funds raised will go directly to Brian to help cover his living expenses.
We are asking local businesses to consider supporting to this effort by donating gift certificates, gift baskets, or goods/services from your business that can be included in the raffle.
Your generosity would make a tangible difference during this incredibly challenging time. With the support of compassionate community members and businesses like yours, we can help ease Brian's financial burden while he focuses on managing his health.
