Guitarist Betz and vibraphonist Gillece team up to generate more sparks on the bandstand in their first return to Cape May since the 2023 Fall Exit Zero Jazz Festival.These sets will be swinging! Joining Betz and Gillece are Pat Bianchi on the Hammond B-3 and in the pocket drummer Byron Landham-all of whom are thoroughly schooled in the post-bop tradition and the fine art of swinging. Together they bring a fresh energy and decidedly modernist approach to their original compositions, like Betz’s smoking, Pat Martino-influenced “Cohabitation” and Gillece’s aggressive swingers like “Break the Ice” and “Apogee.”
