The Brevard Discovery is open for self-guided tours every Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m except during holiday weeks. The tour begins at the UF/IFAS Brevard County Extension Office, located at 3695 Lake Drive in Cocoa, where guests can pick up a complimentary tour guide handout.
The tour handout includes a map highlighting suggested stops throughout the garden. Visitors can follow numbered tour markers placed throughout the landscape while learning about Florida-Friendly Landscaping™, sustainable gardening practices, native plants, pollinator habitats, edible gardening, composting, water conservation, and other environmentally friendly gardening techniques.
The Brevard Discovery Garden serves as a living demonstration garden showcasing research-based horticultural practices recommended by the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS). The garden is designed, developed, and maintained by UF/IFAS Brevard County Master Gardener Volunteers.
During tour hours, visitors will often find Master Gardener Volunteers actively working throughout the garden. Volunteers will be available to answer questions, share gardening tips, and explain many of the demonstration areas featured on the tour.
The Master Gardener volunteers hope visitors who take the Self-Guided Tour will leave inspired to create beautiful, environmentally friendly gardens that support wildlife and conserve natural resources."
Admission is free and open to the public.
