A couple of months ago, I asked a question at a local community meeting: “Why doesn’t our part of Bredbury have a Christmas tree or any festive lights?”With the help of Councillor Rosemary Barratt, who knew who to contact and what to ask, I’m delighted to say this is actually going to happen! A pot of community funding has enabled us to arrange for a Christmas tree to be placed on the grass verge by the postbox. The council will be cutting back the bushes next week, and the tree will arrive during the week of November 17th. Lights will then be fitted and tested.
The official lighting ceremony will take place on Thursday 4th December, attended by Special Guests. We’re planning a festive and safe community celebration, with carols from Harpers Drama Department choir and a German sausage van outside The Steelworks. The press may also be in attendance.
We'd love as many people as possible to attend this community event!
