About this Event
Join Us for the Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Symposium
The Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Symposium, hosted by the Center for Urban Violence and Crime Reduction, will take place on March 24, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Schaefer Engineering Auditorium. This dynamic, full-day symposium convenes scholars, practitioners, advocates, students, and community stakeholders committed to addressing intimate partner violence through research, practice, and action.
This symposium creates a powerful space for critical dialogue and collective learning, recognizing IPV as not only a personal experience but also a public health, social justice, and community safety issue—one that disproportionately affects marginalized and underserved communities.
Through two engaging panel sessions (faculty and student-led), interdisciplinary discussions, and research-informed presentations, participants will explore:
- Structural, cultural, and systemic contributors to IPV
- The role of gender dynamics, racial inequities, and trauma
- Barriers to access and gaps in supportive services
- Evidence-based prevention and intervention strategies
- Culturally responsive, survivor-centered approaches to healing and accountability
