Join us for this free MLK Day event! “Breaking the Booth,” a Carolina Theatre of Durham-produced documentary, follows Durham’s youth protesters during the Civil Rights Movement as they fought to desegregate the Carolina Theatre and integrate public and private facilities across the city. This compelling program features the film screening and a powerful panel moderated by Cori Greer-Banks, Director of Carolina K-12. Dr. Donovan Livingston, Chapel Hill Poet Laureate, will share an original spoken word piece to honor the occasion, and the panel will feature Vivian McCoy, Irving Joyner, and Alec Virgil, Durham Public Schools 2025 Teacher of the Year. Reservations are encouraged.
