This January, multitalented performer, playwright and Tony Award-winner Paul Oakley Stovall returns to the Queen City with his most personal cabaret yet, Breaking Free. After captivating audiences at Stage Door Theater with Love Rules and Life Rules, Paul heads upstairs to Booth Playhouse at Blumenthal Arts Center, where his play Immediate Family enjoyed a celebrated run last summer. Through a moving blend of song and storytelling, this new piece explores what it means to rise above life’s challenges and let go of the chains we place on ourselves, inviting audiences to reflect, rejoice and break free.
Paul’s full band includes Broadway star Yassmin Alers (The Notebook, RENT, On Your Feet), several Charlotte musicians and Blumey Awards alumni Harold Garcia and Jada Rankin sharing the stage as featured vocalists.
Expect Paul's signature blend of artistry, heart and community spirit in an evening that celebrates resilience and connection.
