
About this Event
Together with the CC Academy and ROA Oat milk we host a Breakfast Roasting Class on Tuesday September 23rd at 10 am during the Coffee Week Berlin. We invite you to a special event, where you can learn about the coffee roasting process and even roast your own batch on one of our 12 Kilo Probat production roasters at Communal Coffee.
Breakfast and theory
In the first two hours of the class you get to know the roasting process in theory. We look at the chemical reactions during the roast and how the beans transform in color, shape and flavor. The most interesting question will be, how flavor, taste, acidity and body develop and how we as roasters can influence the complex processes that occur during the roast. To make this theory part more delightful, we serve you a nice breakfast assortment including coffee as much as you can drink. So come hungry :)
Hands on Roasting
After the theory we move over to our roasting room, heat up the macchine and start to roast. After a live roasting session you will get the chance of roasting your very own first batch of specialty coffee and take one bag home with you. Of course the whole session will be supervised and well instructed.
Duration
The whole Class takes 4 hours (10:00 - 14:00)
Target group
The class is designed for people who already have a basic knowledge of coffee and specialty coffee. You don’t need to know anything about roasting, as we start to learn the process from the very beginning. However it is useful if coffee processing (washed, natural, honey etc.) and varieties are not a complete unknown topic for you. It is not mandatory but we will assume some basic knowledge and interest around specialty coffee.
