A family-friendly birdwatch led by local birding expert and dedicated volunteer, Andy Leat. We will be looking for returning wading birds and birds passing through on their way south. There may be a chance to see Osprey! No booking required. Suggested £4 donation per person on the day* (free for under 16s).
We will meet at Heanton Court car park and walk along the Tarka Trail, looking out over the estuary for returning wading birds. The Tarka Trail is an easy and flat tarmac path, with a short, sloped path leading down from Heanton Court car park to the Trail.
Please wear sensible footwear and warm and waterproof clothing – parts of the Trail can be quite exposed to the elements. There will be an opportunity to use a telescope or binoculars to get a closer look at our feathered friends. Some binoculars will be provided but feel free to bring your own.
This walk is suitable for all ages from 6yrs upwards and anyone interested in learning more about the local birdlife. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
*The Braunton Countryside Centre is a small volunteer-run charity. We rely on donations to keep our doors open and maintain a vibrant events programme. We also want to make sure our events are open to all, regardless of circumstances. So, although we do not charge event fees, we do ask for a suggested minimum donation of £4 per person, but any amount you are happy/able to give would be greatly appreciated. If you wish to further contribute to our running costs, you can become a Friend of Braunton Countryside Centre for £15 per year. Please find the details on our website, or ask at the Centre.
