Brainy Run 5k: Supporting Alyson & Brain Tumor Research 💜Join us for a fun, family-friendly 5K as we rally behind Alyson Gibson on her journey to the Chicago Marathon through a fundraising entry supporting the American Brain Tumor Association — an organization close to her heart. Every step (and every donation) helps make a difference!
💜Alyson’s Story:
At 16, Alyson was diagnosed with her first two brain tumors. Over the past 15 years, she has faced six tumors and countless challenges. In 2018, an “inoperable” tumor began growing rapidly, and she was given less than a year to live. Surgery was her only option — and the odds were slim.
She woke up unable to feel or move from the waist down and was told she might never talk, walk, feed herself, or breathe on her own again. If you know her - she wasn’t going to let that be her story.
Just three months later, she ran her first FULL marathon.
Now, she’s taking on the Chicago Marathon as a bucket-list dream and fundraising for the American Brain Tumor Association — an organization deeply personal to her journey. Every mile is a celebration of strength, resilience, and second chances.

📍 Course details:
Thanks to Lucy Park Park Run Organization, we’ll be using the scenic 5K course at Lucy Park near the sound garden and volleyball courts. This is an out-and-back route along the river in Wichita Falls.
🐾 Bringing kids or pups? Please keep little ones close and all animals leashed and comfortable around race-day crowds so everyone can have a safe, fun experience.
🏅 And yes… there are medals!
All registered runners who donate before race day are guaranteed one of our one-of-a-kind finishers medals (extras available while supplies last).
