This event takes place on Chief Drygeese territory. From time immemorial, it has been the traditional land of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation. We respect the histories, languages, and cultures of all other Indigenous Peoples, including the North Slave Métis and all First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose presence continues to enrich our vibrant community. ______________________________________________________________________
Brain Bent is a tightly wound machine of jagged art-punk menace, filtered through the banality of corporate jargon and powered by late-stage capitalist dread. From their 2020 debut, Obligatory Icebreaker, to last year’s Boilerplate EP, the Calgary-based four-piece has explored existential crisis, everyday woes, and life in the digital age with a furious attack of post-punk that blurs the line between shredding and performance art.
Reminiscent of a love child created by Blink 182 and NOFX, Brenden MacIntosh’s songs are melodically charged metaphors packed with explosive dynamics! Born and raised in Yellowknife, NWT, Brenden MacIntosh is known for his highly energetic and diverse punk rock music and performances. Brenden is a self-taught multi-instrument artist. Brenden released his first EP, Coffee Break, in 2022, and he won the 2022 NWT Music Award for Best Debut Album. Brenden recently released his first full-length album, Pizza Time, and will perform at this year’s Breakout West Festival.
Cat sings songs of life in the Great White North and talks about many adventures and viewpoints from travelling all across the land. Their powerful voice, matched by their baritone ukulele, captivates audiences wherever they play, whether at a bonfire or a music festival. Have you ever wanted to hear The Taste of Ink on a banjo? Of course not. Putting the mid in midwest emo - it's Cat McGurk.
