At this season of remembrance, Cantata Singers of Ottawa present one of the greatest works in the choral repertoire: Johannes Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem. Brahms’ German Requiem is unlike any other. Rather than focusing on death and judgment, it draws on biblical texts of comfort and peace, offering consolation to those who mourn and hope for all who listen. It is a masterpiece that speaks to the heart with both intimacy and grandeur. This moving performance features two of Ottawa’s finest soloists, soprano Susan Elizabeth Brown and baritone Ryan Hofman, joined by the virtuosic pianists Jennifer Loveless and Roland Graham at the piano for four hands.
The concert will take place in the serene setting of Christ Church Cathedral, where Gothic Revival architecture and warm acoustics create the perfect atmosphere for Brahms’ masterpiece. The cathedral is fully accessible.
