About this Event
Rehabilitation. Innovation. Live DJ Talent. All in 360°.
Experience an immersive DJ jam session at MediaCityUK showcasing extraordinary young people using music and technology to rebuild confidence, cognition, and creative identity.
BPM Rehab is pleased to announce a live DJ performance and collaborative “jam session” at MediaCityUK, celebrating the successful completion of our recent research project with Igloo and MITIH ‘Immersive BPM (iBPM): An exploration of the physiological and cognitive impact of using immersive technologies in DJing’. We are excited to celebrate the creativity, resilience and skill of young people engaged in BPM’s specialist music-based rehabilitation and education programmes.
Music-based rehabilitation offers clinically meaningful benefits in executive functioning, emotional regulation, sensory integration and social engagement. For many participants, DJing provides an accessible route into meaningful occupation, identity formation, skill acquisition and confidence-building following neurological injury or health adversity. This event highlights the intersection of rehabilitation, creativity and digital innovation, reflecting Greater Manchester’s commitment to inclusive growth and equitable access to opportunity.
The event will showcase participants from BPM’s DJing and music production pathway, including young people with acquired brain injury (ABI), neurodevelopmental conditions, neurodivergences and complex rehabilitation needs, who have developed their talents using adapted music technologies and flexible music practice. Through this work, BPM supports individuals to build confidence, cognitive skills, social participation and vocational potential.
This showcase forms part of BPM’s wider mission to advance creative rehabilitation, digital inclusion and high-quality opportunities for young people across Greater Manchester. You are invited to join us in recognising the achievements of these young performers and the wider value of accessible creative interventions in rehabilitation and community development and inclusive environments. Plus you will get to try your hand at DJing yourself within the live 360 environment with the help from our expert DJ’s!
