Cambridge, MA — A powerhouse lineup of New England reggae talent comes together the day after Christmas for a night of uplifting riddims and conscious lyrics at The Middle East Restaurant & Nightclub.
Root Fiyah, led by veteran keyboardist, composer, and vocalist Abdul Baki, headlines the evening with their signature spiritual blend of roots reggae and rocksteady, pulsing with Nyabinghi drumming and soulful harmonies. Baki—who toured with icons such as John Holt, Ken Boothe, and The Itals—continues the tradition with bassist Basil Bernard, drummer Jafar Manselle, and guitarist/vocalist Dave Boatwright.

NyJah DiOrganizah, whose classic track Here Comes the Weedman first recorded in 2003 at Boston’s Waltz Audio Productions, remains a fearless anthem of truth, rights, and freedom. NyJah’s distinctive vocals ride the legendary Pressure & Slide riddim, reflecting real-life encounters with Boston PD in the 1990s.
King Rhymez, one of Boston’s top dancehall artists, brings fire with his high-energy single Take A Life—a commanding plea to end senseless violence, featuring a cutting-edge dub remix “Dub A Life” created with Maine’s Green Lion Crew and mixed by Grammy-nominated Loud City Music.
Jah Rico (a.k.a. Yahraka), born in Spanish Town, Jamaica and now based in Boston, delivers conscious roots reggae infused with soul and R&B influences. With a catalog that includes the Deeper EP and uplifting singles like Higher Meditation and People R Waking Up, Jah Rico shares messages of love, hope, and unity.
